Homemade Halloween Decorations

The spooky season is coming! Our job is particularly fun at this time of year as we get to see all the interesting decorations customers have made. You’d be surprised at the amount of times we’re instructed to load ghouls and skeletons into the van! Here are some of our favourite homemade halloween decorations. They cost pennies to make, and the fun is priceless.
Realistic Cellotape Limbs
Cellotape is one of the most useful tools on the planet. For example, did you know it can be used to create 3D sculptures? All it takes is a willing volunteer and some clingfilm, then you’ve got a rather creepy looking tape doll.
Once you’ve created a realistic effigy, clothe it, cut it to pieces and dip the ends in fake blood. In no time at all you’ll have a bucketful of limbs that you can hang around the house.
Homemade Spiderweb
Great decorations come from making the best of everyday tools. Take a ball of string, for example. You can unravel it, tie it to everything above head height, then step back and enjoy your very own ceiling spiderweb. Homemade spiderwebs are great because they shrink the room without causing a huge mess.
Black Out The Walls With Binbags
Sometimes, the best decorations are subtle. If you’re hosting a halloween party, you should consider blacking out the walls. Before you get excited, we’re not encouraging you to give the house a paint job! Instead, simply tear off a dozen binbags, cut them to spooky shreds, and stick them to the walls and ceiling. It doesn’t have to be wall-to-wall coverage; just a few will darken the room and help transform the space. Just remember that loose plastic and string can be dangerous, so keep an eye on the kids and don’t burn any candles!
While these aren’t the most dramatic of Halloween decorations, we find they add a lot of character to your home. What suggestions would you make? Let us know and we’ll feature them!
