Britain’s Most Expensive Postcodes

Friday, December 18th, 2015 in: Buying a Home, Finance, Lifestyle

Brighten Up Your Basement Flat

Despite its size, Britain has a large range of lavish and expensive postcodes. Unsurprisingly, most of these lie at the heart of the capital. As Monopoly players will no doubt know, London has some of the priciest streets in the country. That isn’t surprising considering the size of the houses, the accessibility and the status that comes with living on such postcodes. Here are a few, both in and out of the capital. We can’t necessarily live there, but we can dream!

W8: Kensington Palace Gardens

Home of the Royal Family and the Beckhams – what more could we expect? To nobody’s surprise, W8 consistently tops the annual list of expensive postcodes.

SL5: Ascot, Berkshire

Postcode values follow popular events, functions and celebrations. It’s therefore understandable that Royal Ascot boasts a very expensive price tag in 2015. The horse race brings so much tourism, money and status that living there will cost many coffers.

SW7: Knightsbridge

As mentioned above, the price tag of a street is influenced by the events surrounding it. In London, this is no more relevant than the areas immediately outside Hyde Park. Over the centuries, Knightsbridge has built up a reputation for wealthy residential houses and flagship department stories, including Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

BH13: Poole, Dorset

Expensive postcodes are not limited to the mainland. A harbourside property is a prize commodity these days: the air is fresh, the travel links varied and, of course, there’s boats. Poole has the biggest natural harbour in Europe. It stands to reason that its house prices are equally large.

LS22: Wetherby

Yorkshire – and indeed the North Of England – is notably absent from many rich lists. The London-centric South has a far higher concentration of expensive postcodes than anywhere else in the country. With that in mind, we thought we’d give an honorary mention to Linton Lane in Wetherby. It is a lovely quaint street in a fabulous market town. Being in our coverage area, Wetherby is a familiar face to My House Removals. It’s a delight to visit, and for our money a preferable place to live than anywhere in the big smoke!
